Bread And Butter Pudding

For those of you who think that bread and butter can't make a delicious pudding....here is a challenge...show me an easier pudding than this one  which tastes great at whatever temperature you have it...hot ,chilled or just about warm.
Alright I agree that the photograph isn't very alluring but well thats the best an amateur photographer can do.Whenever I make it the next time which would be very soon....I promise to take better pictures and put them up.Till then lets just do with these.Hey !!!its not that bad either. Ok atleast the flowers are looking great...take a look at the recipe...its so simple that you will feel like making it and tell me how did it taste.

Ingredients

1.    7 medium slices of bread  with the crusts removed about  4 inch square piece
If you have larger slices then cut them with a bread knife and make that size and save the rest to adjust in the dish. The  bread should be a day or two old and preferably kept in the fridge so that it’s a little dry and soaks the milk mixture and doesn’t become too soggy on baking.
2.    550 ml of milk
3.    Unsalted butter to spread on the slices of bread ( you can use the salted one but do not apply too much or else the bread will taste salty)
4.    5 - 6  tablespoons sugar
5.    2 large eggs
6.    2 teaspoons brown sugar ,  3 tablespoons butterscotch chips and two tablespoons raisins to sprinkle on top.( You can add chopped cashews too in case you don’t have butterscotch chips just add two extra teaspoons of brown sugar)
7.    1 teaspoon vanilla essence
8.    A bake and serve dish ( I used an 18 inch square Borosil dish)

Method

1.    Grease the baking dish and preheat the oven to 180° c.
2.    Generously butter the slices and place in a neat pile one on top of the other and on the sides and fill the dish .

3.   Sprinkle the brown sugar , chips and raisins on the slices.
4.    Whisk the milk , sugar and the eggs together and add vanilla essence.

5.    Pour the mixture onto the arranged slices of bread and gently press the bread slices with a fork so that the bread slices remain even and covered with mixture.
6.    Bake in the preheated oven for  35 – 40 minutes.
7.   Can be served sizzling hot or at room temperature or better still chilled.
